How to Contour and Highlight for Beginners

Happy Weekend everyone. Sorry, I wanted to post yesterday but didn’t have it in me so I do apologize, this week’s beauty topic is on contouring and highlighting aimed especially for beginners. I filmed a video on How to Contour and Highlight so please check it out below and also don’t forget to subscribe to my channel HERE.

The pallet from Kat Von D inspired me to film this tutorial and to write a post about contouring and highlighting. Even though it’s hard to get your hands on one in the UK, I purchased it in Sephora on my visit to Copenhagen its one of the best contouring kits that I ever used. If you do however come across the palette I highly recommend you get it as it’s absolutely amazing.
The product is a powder, however, it’s really fine that it applies almost like a cream and has a really long lasting power. The palette contains 3 highlight and 3 contour shades quite decently sized if I may add. Highlight shades are lucid which is a pale pinkish shade, lyrie a yellow shade, my favorite and levitation which is more of a peachy toned highlight powder. Regarding contour there is somber which is a dark toupee shade, shadowplay is what I use the most and is on an ash side and subconscious which is the darkest in the palette and I use it to exaggerate my check bones mostly when I want to go out.

If you guys are looking to purchase a contouring palette than I recommend that you make sure that there is a banana or a yellow powder as this is the best highlight shade that there is, It brightens and enlarges like nothing else.

I used a bunch of other products that you can check in the video and at the end of this post. How do you guys contour and highlight?

That was indeed very helpful. I am far from being a make up expert so I always need a few tips to get everything right!

The final result is amazing! I love contouring and highlighting, but it’s usually too much effort for me, and I’m always afraid my face seems too caked. You did such a wonderful job though, that I may just have to give it another go!

Haha I know what you mean as I always tend to get little carried away. I think practice makes perfect and it only takes a few extra minuted to contour x

I know this one is on the pricier side but each bronzer is quite big so you almost get 3 bronzer and 3 highlighters for the price of 2 standard bronzers. But you don’t need a palette to contour as you can always use a bronzer and get a powder in a lighter shade than your usual one to highlight x
