I love roaming vintage stores to get that happy feeling when you find that vintage dress that you love. I swear it feels like finding a treasure and I can’t help but wonder, which era it came from and what to occasion was it worn.
My gorgeous vintage dress is from Rokit and it has been sold since its one of a kind. The vintage dress is from the 90’s and its a floral midi with an elasticated back. My favourite part is the detailing around the waist making me appear slimmer with a more exaggerated waist.
In the whole honesty, this is not the main reason that I appreciate vintage clothing. The idea of fashion being brought back and trends recycled excites me. I think it has more meaning when future generations show interest in clothing that previous generations wore. I remember raiding my moms closet when I was young and I remember clearly that this is where my love for fashion started.
I used her items that she wore as a girl and wore them all the way through my high school. I remember getting some funny looks at times and being teased but the feeling of love for fashion was stronger. My style is still individual and the way I express myself can’t always be defined or attributed to a specific trend. I believe that vintage fashion gives you so much more freedom to experiment and be yourself. Nothing better than finding one of a kind clothes that you love when roaming vintage stores in Brick Lane.
I’m grateful to live in London as there are so many amazing vintage stores in all areas but Rokit remained my favourite for the past 10 years. I also got a pair of one of a kind Vintage 70’s Levi’s Blue Selvedge 501 Jeans which I’m in love with.
Are you a fan of vintage clothing and do you have a favourite vintage dress? I absolutely love adding vintage pieces to my current wardrobe as it really brings your style to another level.
