Meat People Islington is another cool find of mine, especially if you are a massive omnivore. These guys will make sure all of your meat taste buds are satisfied even if you are on a look out for something little different like zebra meat for example. Located just off the Upper Street, is a perfect little spot to escape busy Angel crowds.
We arrived at the Meat People Islington on a late Sunday afternoon to avoid busy lunch crowds. This is my little trick when blogging, have a late lunch in order to get a good table, fewer people around and a good light. I really loved how friendly staff was and our warm welcome didn’t go unnoticed. The restaurant oozed a retro cafe vibe. The retro design and meat scales used as an interior decor did slightly remind me of being at butchers, however, the whole restaurant vibe felt super retro.
We started with a couple of Espresso Martinis, mainly because we were little tired and needed a little pick me up. Starter vise we opted for seared scallops and zebra meat, which I felt slightly guilty to consume but when in Rome. We opted for their main menu however, Meat People Islington serves brunch and late lunch menu if you are into something little less formal. For our main, we decided to go for a Meat People platter to share and this consisted of Rib Eye, Secreto Iberico, and Bevette. We also decided to have Mushroom and heritage tomato salad on the side, which made us realize that we went little over board with our food order. Everything was so delicious including zebra, although zebras meat consistency wasn’t my favorite. I really felt quite full after all that food but I didn’t mind as it was so delicious.
You really should visit Meat People Islington, if you love meat, in particular, the steak. This is such a cute little restaurant perfect for a family lunch or even a date and service will make you feel like you are a local regular customer.
