Summertime in the city sparks a certain need to find your favourite riverside restaurants in London. The feeling of having a chilled glass of Laurent Perrier whilst you watch people strolling along the Thames can be extremely satisfying especially on a Friday. This time we popped into the The Laurent-Perrier Sea Containers Terrace at the Mondrian Hotel located at 20 Upper Ground London.
It has to be one of the favourite riverside restaurants in London for a few reasons, the Tom Dixon designer interiors are always a beautiful setting for your lunch/dinner. Secondly, the terrace is overlooking St Pauls and Blackfriars bridge and it’s decently separated from the walking riverside walkers but at the same time, it’s pretty atmospheric. And lastly not to mention the food.
The menu is filled with diet-friendly dishes sustainably sourced and influenced by the Mediterranean. I started my dining experience at Sea Containers with a glass of Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé and half a dozen of oysters. It was a Friday and I was ready to give myself a break and a treat. After all, it feels amazing to treat yourself to a chilled glass of bubbly. Who’s with me?
Once my friend arrived, we order a few more dishes including asparagus, green peppers, mozzarella salad and a good old steak for me. I don’t usually buy meat at home but once I’m out I love to go for a good old steak especially on treat days.
The Laurent-Perrier Sea Containers Terrace is a really great way to give your self the best riverside alfresco dining experience with the most iconic landmark views. If you are not up for a steak you can always opt for a seafood platter that will go down a treat with a glass of champagne.
What riverside restaurants in London are you visiting this summer? Do you have a favourite? If you are looking for a rooftop with riverside views, then you can take the lift up to 12th Knot for a cocktail or two and truly immerse yourself in London’s skyline.
