Our afternnon tea at The Academy Hotel Bloomsbury

I love Bloomsbury and this must be one of my favourite areas to spend the afternoon especially on a rainy day. The area is not extremely busy and there are a lot of cool spots to pick and explore. This time we went for the Afternoon tea at the Academy Hotel’s library which is located on 21 Grower Street.

Library at the Academy Hotel is a perfect little place to relax and escape the busy life of London. There are over 400 books available to read should you fancy that however, we opted for cakes and coffee in this intimate setting. We chatted away whilst enjoying sandwiches and cakes. I don’t know what is it about Afternoon teas but I’ve been such a fan for so long.

The afternoon tea names Mr Ma’s Afternoon Tea inspired by the tale of Mr Ma & Son, by Lao She covering chronicles and experiences as they journey through their life in London during the 1920s as a widower father and son. The story has brought a food mix of Chinese and British cuisine in the form of this amazing Afternoon tea. If you are looking for a non-traditional Afternoon tea experience than the Academy Hotel Bloomsbury is a good choice.

The tea is also served at their terrace but since we visited on a rainy day, the Library was our best option. It really felt like being at home feasting on sweet delicasies.

The afternoon tea is priced at £25 pp and you will get a selection of ginger and cinnamon scones served with clothes cream and fruit preserve, Chinese egg tarts, Sesame dough balls, mini pastries selection as well as a selection of British Afternoon tea sandwiches. We really enjoyed Chinese egg tarts and taken a couple of home with us.

If you are after a typically British experience whilst visiting London, then you will really enjoy the Academy hotel. I really love Mr Ma’s Afternoon Tea has a twist to it and it really represents diverse London culture in the best way.
