Hello everybody,
As you may know, I’m East London based which gives me an access to a bunch of really cool markets that you can freely roam on the weekends. One of the most famous flower markets in East London is the Columbia Flower market based on Columbia road. This place on Sunday is so busy with flower shoppers, but it’s definitely the best place to stock up on beautiful plants and flowers. However, this post is not about the Columbia Flower Market even though I should publish one soon, this post is about the cutest little Spanish tapas restaurant Laxeiro Columbia Road.
Laxeiro Columbia Road is a perfect location to eat some delicious tapas and if you are lucky enough to sit by the window like we were then people watching is also highly recommended. It predominantly serves north-western Spanish tapas or tapas de Galicia if you want to sound Spanish. It’s family run, which always promises great service and I tell you we weren’t disappointed. We popped in for a late lunch as the day was so beautiful to wander around that we completely forgot to eat. This was a good decision, though, as Laxeiro is usually quite busy but since we got there quite late, we were seated immediately. We had a large table, however, we gave it up as a larger group arrived and manager politely asked us to move to the window table rewarding us with a glass of Prosecco, I mean what a win-win situation for us. I took a few pictures to show you the interiors so you are able to get the feel for the atmosphere inside.
We ordered a bunch of tapas actually it was a lot for two people, but you can’t go to a Spanish restaurant and not order Croquetas, they served Serrano Ham Croquets and Tortilla Española, which, of course, were so yummy. We also fancied some seafood so opted for Gambas al Ajillo – Garlic Prawns served in a sizzling dish with Garlic, Olive Oil, a little Chili and a wedge of Lemon and tasty Calamares also served with a wedge of Lemon. I’m actually a Kale obsessed and when I saw that they offer Kale with Garlic and Paprika Oil on their menu, I had to order it.
Needless to say the food was so delicious and service was also good, we felt looked after. Although Laxeiro Columbia Road is quite small it’s a perfect spot to pop in and have some delicious, almost like home cooked food and people watch especially if you find yourself on Columbia Road on Sundays.
Do you guys have any recommendations for things to do on Sundays?
