Somerset House ice skating season has started a few weeks ago and for me usually this means that it’s time to fully embrace Christmas. I did the Somerset House ice skating blog post last year too and I wanted to share it again to let myself reflect on the whole year and all that have happened.
I feel like I’m getting more into the Christmas spirit now that we are 2 weeks away from it (eek I don’t even have all the presents ready). I thought that the Somerset House Ice Skating is a great way to kick start the Christmas cheer. I don’t consider myself to be a good ice skater, as a matter of fact, I’m quite bad at it, but the fun and the adrenaline rush is so worth the embarrassment. I feel like most people on the ice skating rink felt the same and it’s such a cool and fun thing to do on an evening after work.
After an hour of ice skating, which by the way is a great workout, we felt our bellies rumble. Cheese fondue at the Fortnum’s Lodge was so in order but not before having a little stroll around Fortnum & Mason Christmas Arcade. They have so many cute little Christmas ornaments and all other bits and bobs for sale, that if you are not careful you may get carried away with purchasing.
After sitting down, we ordered a cocktail as you do after hours work out and cracked a few walnuts open. The cocktail list is quite Christmasy and we Bees Knees from the Après Skate Cocktails menu. Food wise we had an Avocado, Chilli & Basil and Smoked Salmon, Crème Fraiche & Baerii Caviar Bellinis and a Cheese Fondue to share. The food was super delicious and the setting so pretty, I must admit that our Cheese Fondue got us feeling little merry. Needless to say that this was the perfect end to our evening.
Are you planning to give Somerset House ice skating a go this year?
