Christmas week is here and this is my last post of the year and I thought what better way to finish than with a visit to Winterville at Victoria Park. If you have been following my blog this December then you may know that I embraced the Christmas spirit throughout which was so much fun. It has been a rather hectic month, but it has all been worth it now that I can take some time off and relax.
Winterville is quite similar to Winter Wonderland in London’s Hyde Park however, it is a little more alternative due to its location in East London’s famous Victoria Park. It offers all sort of festive activities including food, drink, fun fair rides, ice skating, backyard cinema and the circus.
Catrine and I had a full day out there on Saturday, I had the tickets to the Ice Skating and the Circus although I felt a little fragile to Ice Skate due to a work Christmas party on Friday nonetheless, the circus was entertaining. They had a lot of different acts and a clown, I took a lot of pictures to show you guys.
We walked around the village, had a beer at Bar Hamburg, mulled wine and Krakauer (Spicy German sausage) at one of the food stands and enjoyed the festive spirit that Winterville has to offer. These guys put on a series of events which I hear from a few friends that attended are excellent. These include The Old Dirty Brasstards that have people up and dancing to their array of pop hits including Uptown Funk and Shake It Up and, of course, good old Christmas classics Last Christmas and Do They Know It’s Christmas.
I wish I had more time to go to BackYard Cinema but they are open until 24th December so hopefully I will be able to squeeze in another visit.
The entrance to the Winterville Village is free and tickets to the events start at £5. If you are in the area then I recommend you check it out if you are into the Christmas spirit. Winterville closes on 24th of December, but they are back in November next year.
I hope you guys have enjoyed this post. Are there any cool Christmas festivities happening in your area?
