According to research, almost 57% of Brits regret some of the holidays that they have taken and prefer to visit a destination that they have been to before. As a matter of fact, most of us will go to the same holiday 4 times in our lives to avoid disappointment. Some of this disappointment and lack of excitement comes from fear of the language barrier, cultural differences and even understanding the local currency.
In the past, I used to be afraid, but since I decided to take up travel as my full- time job and live a nomad life, I have built up lots of tips that I’d like to share in the hope of inspiring your new adventure to a new unforgettable holiday destination! Traveling through different countries does open your mind to new possibilities and you realize that its good to think outside of the box and do something that you are not always 100% used to. I want to share a few tips that I picked up along the way that have really helped me have the best time in a country that I’ve never been to before.
First and foremost, its good to do some research! I usually look at things such as currency, protection, weather and the crime rate. Once I educate myself I gain some extra knowledge and confidence that helps to put my mind at ease. Once you get to your destination you realize that all the touristy spots and landmarks are always super busy with people from all around the world. My tip on how to find the best places is to talk to locals. I usually spot a nice café owned by a local and I start talking to them. People are always so friendly so it’s nice to be able to learn about the destination, culture and traditions through the eyes of
a local. Don’t forget to immerse yourself in the local cuisine and give your taste buds a real treat! Visiting day and night markets will let you taste some of the best local foods around. I like to balance it out and eat in nice cafes and restaurants as well
as the markets and this way I feel like I’m getting the best of both worlds.
If you are feeling adventurous, you could book your next trip with Royal Caribbean – I entirely enjoyed sailing on the Royal Caribbean ship last summer, when we went around the Mediterranean.
