Cafes in Paris – My Latest Discoveries

There are so many cafes in Paris that in all honesty, you will find yourself spoilt for choice. I’m in love with the Parisian cafes culture and it’s such a perfect way to take a little break and catch up with your friends over some wine and cheese.

As you may know, I recently returned from a trip to Paris and on this trip, my mission was to find as many cafes as possible and recommend the best ones for you guys. We didn’t eat at all but most we did try their food and I decided to share them in the order of my favourites on top.

Pink Mama

Somewhat of an Italian gem in the middle of Paris, a table at Pink Mamas is not easy to get. If you want to have dinner here prepare yourself to wait for quite some time. Pink Mama is part of a group and they have 6 other establishments but unfortunately, I have only been to this one. Spread across the 4th floor with an identity in its own right, Pink Mama is for all that are looking for something slightly different to a traditional Parisian cafe and restaurants. They serve Italian food and offer some of the best burrata and pizzas I have had in a while. Washed down with an Aperol and its super funky setting makes this one of my favourite cafes in Paris. I say cafe as I’m trying to stick to a theme but really its a restaurant. Very popular amongst locals and travellers and its annoyingly open only between 12-14 and 18.45 to 23.00 makes it a little hard to get a table especially for brunch so you will need to try your luck. The best thing is that Big Mama was literally 2 minutes walk for our apart’hotel in Opera so we had to try twice before scoring a table but it was definitely worth it. Prices are 15-18 Euros for a main on average.

Le Dépanneur Pigalle

Should you fail to get a table at the Pink Mama and don’t have time to wait around for the next to be available (guilty as charged) then I recommend you popping over to Le Dépanneur which is literally 2 minutes walk away. Le Dépanneur has a really nice terrace so it’s perfect to have a little drink in the evening here as well as some food. we had a burger and ceviche and it was very delicious. Their concept is a fusion of Mexican and American fast food so the menu is quite interesting. We were really hoping to have some guac and chips but sadly they run out, other than that we thought that food was quite yum. They serve wine and cocktails which we also savoured but who can blame us, once you are in Paris, you have to live a little 🙂 The prices were slightly heftier than the Pink Mama but the service was good and we really enjoyed sitting on their terrace so I had to recommend it.

Ellsworth

This is my second time at the Ellsworth and I love the fact that we were only just over 5 minutes walk away. We popped to Ellsworth each time we had a little cheese and wine craving as they tend to serve tapas-style dishes and since we eat a lot we wanted to have starters/desserts here and main elsewhere. I’m in love with their ambience as its so quirky but quaint at the same time. Thier service is amazing and price very decent. I love all of their wines too so you really can’t go wrong with choosing Ellsworth. They are focused on using small producers as their suppliers so you really can taste the quality in their food which by the way comes with unlimited refills of bread baskets but I’m not sure if this is a good thing for your waist.

Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole

Last but not least is Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole very charming French restaurants positioned just a throw away from the Noterdam Cathedral. I would say this is a blogger favourite and very Instagrammable. Dining here looked way more formal than what we felt at that moment in time so we opted for a table outside and a cup of coffee in the sun. We were so lucky to have such beautiful weather in Paris when we visited which made us stop frequently for our coffee breaks.  Service was lovely and coffee was priced well for this area so I can definitely recommend you try Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole even if its just a coffee.
