I have just returned from a gorgeous weekend in Vienna, where I celebrated my birthday. I wanted to share the hotel we stayed in with you guys; Das Triest Vienna. Apart from its perfect location, only a few minutes’ walk from most of Vienna’s main attractions, hotel Das Triest is also one of Vienna’s first design hotels designed by Austrian architect Peter Lorenz and Sir Terrence Conran, a very well know British interior designer.
The outside the building it looked like your standard hotel, however as soon as we walked into the bright and airy lobby, it felt so tranquil and warm. The lobby overlooked the enchanting garden positioned right in the middle of the building which used to serve as an old coach station connecting Vienna to Trieste. A lot of the original character has been preserved by Sir Richard Conran, who also added modern features throughout including the light fixtures that distinctly stand out. The porthole windows and flags add an indirect nautical theme brings out the historical values purposefully mixed with modern features.
I love boutique hotels purely because they offer so much more value than a lot of bigger and famous hotels. There are 72 guest rooms and 16 suites in total; we stayed in their amazing Romeo and Julia suite which was so comfortable. Each room has an Apple iMac and massive plasma television, making it easy for guests to stay organised and just feel more at home, as well as super-fast WIFI connection. Another thing that I loved about Das Triest is that they offer Molton Brown toiletries which helps worry less about carrying all of my products with me when traveling especially on a shorter trip.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings, it was mainly continental food which was really delicious especially their Bircher Muesli. They also served the best filter coffee, I have ever had for sure. I had a lot of coffee you guys because we didn’t sleep that much on this trip as there was so much to do and see.
We really enjoyed having a drink in the Salon, especially in the evening by the log fire.
If you are heading to Vienna, which I highly recommend you do at some stage, you should check out Das Triest hotel which not only has a great location but it also offers a great comfort in a beautiful setting. I took a lot of pictures just to transfer as much of the atmosphere as possible, I also filmed a video tour so make sure you check it out.
