Escaping reality for the weekend at Port Aventura World

I have to be honest guys I’m not the one for adventurous rides and scary rollercoasters as I have a major fear of heights, however, my motto this year is to challenge myself on every possible level and face my fears whatever they may be. I was invited to attend the grand opening of Port Aventura World in Spain and I thought what a great opportunity to practice my new motto of trying to say yes to most things and live my life in the present.

For you guys that are not aware Port Aventura World is Europe’s leading theme park located on the Costa Dorada. Its perfect location allows for a great adventure and a fun time as you can spend a couple of days at Port Aventura World and an hour away is Barcelona where you can continue your adventure just like we did.

Port Aventura World is home to some of the biggest rollercoasters in Europe including the Ferrari Land and their Red Force is the tallest and fastest tower in Europe which I will have you know I went on! For someone who is scared of heights, I feel like I should give myself a tap on the shoulder for doing it. I have to admit I was scared as hell but the feeling of the adrenaline rush was so worth it. The entire Ferrari Land is so cool and it was set in the Mediterrània area which featured all the best that Italy and Spain have to offer. So many cute buildings including Piazza San Marco in Venice that provided a great opportunity for my photos. There we so many amazing restaurants and we ate so well the entire weekend. One of our favourites was a Lunch at Cavallino located in the Ferrari Land which was the cutest Italian restaurant with the dreamiest setup and wisteria hanging from the ceilings. So cute and romantic.

We walked around taking photos all over and I was so impressed with the creativity and the amount of detail that went into designing Port Aventura World. Aside from the Mediterrània
there were few more areas of the world including Polynesia, China, Mexico, Angor, Far West.

Our hotel Deluxe Callaghan was located in the Far West which happened to be one my favourite areas. The hotel was decorated in the western style and was super comfortable and cute, the service so attentive and don’t even get me started on the food. I ate too much and enjoyed every bite of it. The set up was literally like a movie set and I couldn’t help but get lost in the history of the Wild West. The buildings, the decor and cactus plants brought out the atmosphere and we felt like we were transported back in time. The Far West side had so many rides including Silver River Flume and Grand Canyon Rapids we opted for the Stampida which felt like the Earth was shaking as we were travelling at 70mph. You should have seen my face after the ride. I loved hanging around Merry go Round and winning the big teddy bear, well at least to use in some of my photos.

Polynesia was also super cool, we watched the Aloha Tahiti show and the performance made me feel I was in Polynesia indeed. The tropical vibe only lacked the hot weather as we were quite unfortunate to have it rain for the most part of our visit. However, Costa Dorada gets really hot so I think most people that visit will be more fortunate and the vibe is so much different when there is sunshine. Also, I hear the sunset at Port Aventura World is to die for.

After Polynesia, we walked through Angor, China and Mexico before arriving at the Far West. Angor was so cool with big elephants guiding the entrance which again turned out to be a great photo opportunity. To get to China you can either hop on the train from Mediterrània or on foot. Should you decide to do it on foot, you will get to see Sesame Aventura, an area made for kids that I actually loved visiting too as it was like a fairy tale. I got myself some candy floss and couldn’t help but feel an overflow of memories from my childhood. I felt like a child again which is a great feeling.

China was interesting in itself as well as Mexico and I took so many photos to bring out the atmosphere as much as possible for you guys. I think Port Aventura World should be experienced regardless of whether you are family, a couple or just a group of friends. There is so much fun to be had and most of all the creativity of the entire place is rather inspiring.

Have you ever visited Port Aventura World or a similar theme park? I would love to find out?!
