I was stuck in a rut with my hair and after a careful consideration and a lengthy thought process, I decided to reach out to Daniel Hersheson Salon and book in a hair transformation.
Daniel Hersheson Salon is all about hair transformations and they were excited to have me so off I went and embarked on a 5-hour journey to a brand new hair. As you may have known, I was wearing extensions for about 9 months. I added micro rings in September last year as I needed a brand new hair for my dream trip to Cali. I had a good time with my extensions and the hair really kept well. However, I was at the crossroad and in need of a change. You can read about my hair extensions experience here.
Daniel Hersheson team was so kind to book me in for a hair extensions removal with Hadley Yates, followed by a cut with Shelley Brook and a color with Gemma O’Brien.
Daniel Hersheson salon is located on the 4th floor of Harvey Nichols department store in Knightsbridge. The Salon is very spacious with a great lighting and amazing service. It’s quite upscale with the clientele fitting the Knightsbridge perfectly so you can trust the service to match the clientele. Since I spent quite some time there, I actually managed to get so much work done with a help of many Soy Americanos. However, no matter the location, setting or service if the final product is not satisfactory and in my case, I have to admit that this was one of those rare times I left hairdressers happy. I hope you guys can see the pictures and judge it for yourself.
So upon my arrival to Daniel Hersheson, my first appointment was with Hadley Yates who specializes in hair extensions. He mixes different hair colors to give his clients the best and most natural looking hair. This time I opted for removal only as I need a break from extensions. Hadley was so friendly and lovely taking my extensions out really quickly that the entire process lasted less than 30 minutes. It would have lasted less if we didn’t stop to take so many selfies and boomerangs. I was actually really scared at first as I didn’t think I had that much hair without extensions, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean I’m not the queen of voluminous hair but my natural hair seemed in a pretty good condition after 9 month of micro rings.
After Hadley finished, Shelley Brookes popped over to introduce herself and talk to me about what I was after. I said I wanted shoulder length cut that is easy to maintain. Something that looks like chic bed hair style with a beachy vibe. Since I’m hitting the shores of California, I thought that this may be an appropriate cut. Shelley asked if I wanted to do anything with my fringe and I said no as I wanted to have an even length with a rought cut. Shelley used a razor to chop my ends off, which was the first time for me to have it cut with this techique. I have to admit that Shelley is a god send and I need to go and see hair again. I loved my hair even without the color and I was quite pleased with the result. What do you guys think of my new short hair look?
Once Shelley finished, I moved over to another section where Gemma O’Brien was waiting for me to give my hair a brand new color and feel. I showed Gemma a mood board, you can have a look at my inspiration HERE and HERE. I also mentioned that I want to have a perfect blonde for summer with the least maintenance possible. This was the longest part of the transformation, as Gemma literally spend ages making sure my color is refreshed and in a right shade and tone at certain parts. She sectioned in 3 using bleach on some of it to give me that Cali vibe. I had to wait for about 30 minutes for color to develop which after Gemma applied a toner finishing it with a shampoo, conditioner and a mask. I was quite pleased with the result too as my color has a less of a yellow tone now and more of a caramel/dirty blonde.
All of the 3 stylists were trained since Daniel Hersheson opened and have spent a long time looking after their clients. I’m really happy with my results and will definitively return to Daniel Hersheson for another cut and color or maybe even extensions one day.
What do you guys think of my brand new hair? Do you think it looks better shorter?
