After we spent a few days in Bangkok it was a good time for us to soak up some sunshine one of Thailand’s most beautiful islands Koh Samui. We booked a 4 night stay at The Lipa Lodge Resort well known for being a beautiful oasis positioned right on the white sandy beach in the Gulf of Thailand.
Aside from its beautiful setting Lipa Lodge has the friendliest service we’ve experienced so far on our Thailand adventure. We travelled with a ferry from Surat Thani to Koh Samui arriving way ahead of our check-in time, however, lovely Lipa Lodge staff showed us to our room straight away, taking care of our luggage in the process making us feel most welcome right from the outset.
At first, I fell in love with the number of its palm trees and coconut groves. The garden dense with vegetation overlooked the ocean was what I truly needed after extremely busy and exhausting December. We had a little lodge in the middle of the garden, which was serene and comfortable that I couldn’t help but feel at ease at all times. Most evenings we walked down the beach to one of the local bars and during the day we spent our time soaking in the sun.
It’s true what they say, you will need a lot of a sunblock and I recommend buying it at the Family Mart on the island, as it was less than 500 TBH for a large bottle.
I took so many photos to show you guys as its so difficult to put such beautiful garden a photo.
Our lodge was quite spacious and provided a perfect spot to sit on the porch staring at the ocean especially in the morning. Such a beautiful setting truly makes you feel so humble and the energy of the locals really helps with finding your balance. After a couple of nights in our little lodge equipped with double bed, flat screen TV and minibar, we got an upgrade to a room directly facing the ocean. Our terrace was a perfect spot to watch the sunset whilst enjoying a beer or two. I have to admit we had Singha every single day which is not the best thing for my bikini body but I felt like I needed to allow my self to let go for a bit in order to prepare myself for a very busy year ahead.
The second room was as comfortable if not more but in all honesty, we didn’t spend much of our time in the room. We tried to explore the island as much as possible. On one of the days we rented a motorbike from the hotel for 250 Bahts per day and we went all around the island.
We had breakfast in the restaurant every morning, which mainly consisted of fresh fruit from the island and omelette with salad. For the rest, we had Pad Thai and various stir-fries. One couple of evenings we had dinner at sunset with the most beautiful view of the restaurant’s terrace. The service was lovely and food came out pretty quick and we quite enjoyed our Pad Thai.
If you are looking for a tranquil boutique hotel to stay on the island, the Lipa Lodge is the way to go. We really wanted an authentic Thai experience and that’s exactly what we got. I’m so amazed by the calm energy and positive vibes that I got from almost everyone on this island including all of the Lipa Lodge staff. I think this really what we enjoyed the most aside from the most beautiful views and abundance of coconuts to use as a picture prop.
Have you ever visited Koh Samui and what are your thoughts? I would love to hear them so please leave your comments below.
