With the Chelsea Flower Show in a full swing, I want to share my recent visit to the Secret Garden at the South Place Hotel where Steph and I celebrated the flower show with a few cheeky cocktails. South Place Hotel is a luxury hotel in the City of London, just minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street station. Their secret garden is a seriously the cutest hidden gem that you can find in the area.
The open-air Secret Garden bar has been decked in honeybee themed floral arrangements by London’s premier florist McQueens which, as I recently discovered opened a new shop in my neighbourhood. I love flowers and I’m so gutted to have missed the press opening at the Chelsea Flower Show but the truth of the matter is that my work is so busy and I had so much on that week. Oh well, there is always a next one besides, I thoroughly enjoyed sipping honey-infused cocktails at the South Place Hotel. Each cocktail served was so pretty and as an interactive experience, we were able to use a wooden honey stirrer and add some extra honey from giant pots of different honey infusions along the bar.
We celebrated the launch of the Chelsea Flower Show and the start of summer in a true flower power style. We tasted a few cocktails including The ‘Sweet Spritz’ a blend of rhubarb liqueur with rum, the ‘Honeycomb Old Fashioned’ combines a sweet hand-blended honey and chamomile syrup, The ‘Bee Sting’ with a rum, mango, lime and honey blend and my favorite ‘Honeydew’ with lemon,
honey and with muskmelon-flavored liqueur. Delicious canapes served on the bed of flowers were also served throughout the evening.
South Place Hotel’s limited-edition ‘Bee’s Knees’ cocktail menu will be available in the Secret Garden bar from 10th to 28th May so do make sure you check it out if you find yourself in the area. If not, the secret garden is still so gorgeous to visit especially on a warm summer evening. I hear we have a heat wave coming our way soon so this is a perfect spot to embrace the summer. Also, it’s a perfect location for a date if you are on a look out for a cool spot.
