Summer Skincare Must Haves

Summer Skincare routine is, in my opinion, one of the most important routines of the year especially if you like to travel to hot countries and being exposed to the sun for a longer period of time.

As much as tanning feels good there are so many negative things associated with it including premature ageing and skin pigmentation and this really means that you need to be careful when exposing your skin to harsh sun rays. I wanted to share some of my tips for protecting your skin and my summer skincare must-haves.

When it comes to exposing your skin to the sun it’s important to remember that you have to protect yourself especially your face. I think wearing shades and hats is a really good idea in addition to high SPF block in your products. I like to use SPF 50 on my face and 30 on my body and even though there is a common misconception that you won’t tan if you use high SPF, the truth is that you will. It’s more important to have a healthy youthful looking skin for your life than 5 minutes of tan.

Hydration, hydration and more hydration and not just in your moisturizer but also with water consumption. You should try and increase to at least 3 litres of water a day as this really helps repair your skin from the inside.

Lastly, try and avoid sun on your face between 12-4pm as this is the period when sunrays are the strongest so it’s really important to protect your skin. You can use a hat or just sit under a sun parasol and tan the rest of your body. I always hide my face from the sun as after getting pigmentation in Asia back in January, I’m really careful about it now.

I took photos of my current summer skincare routine and broken down all the products I currently use below.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser is a gentle cleansing gel that removes makeup at the same time and it has been my main go-to cleanser on the past few trips. Truth to be told I have been using it since February as my main cleaners and I have a slight addiction to it. My skin is so soft and smooth after using it that I’m definitely going to get myself a second bottle.

Malin+Goetz Eye Gel is a little miracle worker but I feel like most of their products that I previously tried to do the same. The gel contains amino acids and cooling cucumber extracts to help brighten the eye area and alleviate puffiness. I loved the packaging and I find it so easy to take it with to all of my trips. My eye area is bright and I never have any puffiness around it.

Clarins Hydra Essential Serum is so perfect to use on your skin after being exposed to the sun for longer periods of time. I used this serum on my recent trip to Greece and it really helped with keeping my skin ultra hydrated. It contains a  natural hydration activator that boosts the skin’s hyaluronic acid production which is always a nice plus.

Loccitaine Immortelle Divine Light Cream SPF20  is a perfect choice for a day moisturizer as it not only contains SPF but it’s also anti-ageing at the same time. It helps nourish the skin and prolongs the youthful look of your skin. I have been using the same pot since January and still have a good amount of 1eft.

Harley Street skincare day moisturizer SPF 50 this is my holy grail of sun blocks and I had this given to me when I went for my personalised facial at Harley Streer Skincare clinic. This product contains SPF50 which I advise everyone to use and I add it on top of my other daily moisturizer although this product is sufficient on its own. It has a really light texture and it also provides a perfect base for makeup. An absolute must-have!

Vichy Slow Age Night Cream is currently my favourite night cream as it helps restore damage caused by external pollutants such as stress and pollution from the city life. It feels so soft on the skin and I love the smell, I also love how fresh my skin feels every morning after using this moisturizer.

Rodin Luxury Oil has changed the skincare game for me and now I’m so hooked on oil that I don’t see my life without this product in it. It has a natural and luxurious smell and velvety texture. I apply this oil as part of my evening routine but it can also be added to your foundation for an extra glow. RODIN formula contains 9 powerhouse oils at its base and it really helps to keep the skin smooth and glowing. It also contains omegas to help strengthen your skins moisture barrier and as well as vitamin A, E, C to keep the pollution and ageing at bay. The life-changing product you guys.

Manuka Doctor Overnight Lavander Mask is another great product to help hydrate and repair your skin overnight. Lavander oil helps to relax you and put you to sleep. I try to add this overnight mask to my evening routine at least 3 times per week. It contains glycotoxins that improve the skin’s natural systems in charge of a repair process that occurs when you sleep. I love bringing this mask on holidays with me as it gives that extra

Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow is a perfect product to add on top of your moisturizer and under your foundation should you chose to wear one. The youth glow brightens and evens out the skin tone, blurring away all your visible blemishes whilst giving your skin an overall glow. I absolutely love this product and it provides a perfect primer and base for my daily makeup. Since this product is anti ageing its really a must have in everyone’s daily skincare routine.

I hope you enjoyed my summer skincare routine roundup and I will try and do my makeup roundup next week. I would love to find out if you have tried any of my suggested products and if so what were your thoughts?
