Sea Caves & Sunsets at Alvor Algarve

Sea Caves & Sunsets at Alvor Algarve

It’s impossible to visit Portugal without exploring beautiful sea caves and beaches that are abundant in the region of Algarve. To explore we picked Alvor, as I have been told that it has one of the most beautiful sunsets in this region.

Alvor is a small fishing village on the southern coast of Portimao. The town itself is quite small and you can easily see all it in half a day. We took a taxi from the Macdonald Monchique, arranging with our taxi driver to pick us up later in the day so we can return to the hotel. We started our little adventure at the Ababuja which is a well-known fish restaurant that serves local cuisine. Since we are in the fishing village in Portugal, I thought this would the most appropriate start to our little adventure. I opted for squid and tuna pate to start with followed by a tuna steak. Needless to say, it tasted really fresh and delicious.

After lunch, we walked the pretty cobbled streets all the way towards Praia dos Tr锚s Irm茫os which has the most beautiful sandy beaches and sea caves. We walked all the way along the beach to the caves, tide permitting and it was such a gorgeous location for pictures. The weather was warm enough for me to take my shoes off and walk in the water, however not for too long as it did feel little chilly.

We were told that Alvor has beautiful sunset around the strip so we wanted to return in time to take more photos. The sun started setting during our walk turning from the light orange into the deepest purple and red colors making the sunset the highlight of our day. In situations like this, you really get to fell deep gratitude toward the planet Earth. The sunset is also known as the Portuguese hour according to locals really took our breath away. It’s always so difficult to put these experiences on a beautiful photo and I’m really please to see that my pictures turned out well.

If you ever find yourself in this area of Portugal make sure you visit Alvor to watch the sunset as I’m sure it will take your breath away.
